How is the EPPP Scored?

As you get ready to take the EPPP, it's important to understand the exam and its scoring process. Knowing the ins and outs of the exam can help ease any anxiety you may have and prepare you for the task ahead.

Questions on the EPPP

The EPPP is a multiple-choice test with 225 questions. Of those questions, 50 are unscored pre-test questions. The remaining 175 questions are scored, and your final score is based on the number of correct responses. Even if you're unsure of the answer, it's important to answer every question as unanswered questions will be marked as incorrect.

EPPP Scoring

After completing the exam, you will receive a scaled score ranging from 200 to 800. The raw scores are converted to scaled scores to ensure that scores across different exam versions have the same meaning and that pass points represent the same level of difficulty. This ensures that candidates are not rewarded for an easier exam or penalized for a more difficult one.

EPPP Passing Score

Although the recommended passing score for independent practice is 500, the required number of questions answered correctly to pass may vary depending on the exam's difficulty level. It's important to check with your state's licensing board to determine their specific passing requirements.

By understanding the EPPP and its scoring process, you can be better prepared to tackle the exam and increase your chances of success.
